Teachers deserve to be a part of a profession where everyone is respected! Come hear about Peer Assistance and Review, a program that allows teachers to own the profession, from an expert panel that includes Dr. Julia Koppich, national PAR consultant, Dr. Sherrish Holloman, MCS Department of Teacher Talent & Effectiveness, and PAR consulting teachers. At the event, teachers will have the opportunity to learn more about phase one implementation of PAR in MCS, ask questions of the expert panel, and provide suggestions for how to invest MCS teachers in the PAR program.
Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) is a program in which the local teachers union and district administrators jointly improve teacher quality by having expert teachers mentor and evaluate their peers. Developed by Dal Lawrence in the early 1980s, PAR has seen success across the country by using expert teachers to support and develop new and/or ineffective teachers. With its specialized roles for Consulting Teachers (CTs), PAR also has the potential to differentiate the work and career opportunities of teachers.
This T+ Network Event will provide teachers with an opportunity to learn from, give feedback to and share ideas with the PAR expert panel via discussion, live polling technology, and a Q&A session. Immediately following the program, you are invited to continue the conversations and network with other teachers over complimentary appetizers, beer, wine, and other beverages.
