Common Core Leader Application

Teach Plus Memphis will select four teachers to become Common Core Leaders to facilitate a professional learning series for teachers throughout the 2014 spring semester.  This series will offer teachers in Innovation Zone schools the opportunity to join in collaboration in understanding the Common Core State Standards and how to best implement them in the classroom so their students are successful. This series is a continuation of our 2012 conference where teachers expressed an interest in meaningful and continuous professional learning that reaches across schools and is led by themselves and their peers.

We seek current k-12 classroom teachers with at least 1 year of teaching experience with Common Core aligned instruction.  Specifically, we will select educators who:

  • Served as a Tennessee Common Core Coach
  • Teach Plus Teaching Policy Fellow/Alum
  • Can tailor approach to fit within TEM 3.0
  • Level 4 or 5 SCS elementary or middle school teacher
  • Can show evidence of student academic growth in their discipline
  • Possess strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Display professionalism and strong organizational skills
  • Have experience in facilitating adult learning
  • Are proponents of the shift to the Common Core State Standards
