Illinois Is Revamping Teacher and Principal Evaluation: YOUR Input Is Needed!
As the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) pushes forward on revamping teacher and principal evaluations systems, it is looking for teacher and administrator feedback. The state’s Performance Evaluation Advisory Council (PEAC) is offering multiple opportunities for educators to give input on key issues such as:
The new evaluation systems, the result of the 2010 Performance Evaluation Reform Act, will provide teachers and principals with clear and consistent standards, more constructive feedback, and stronger professional development. The systems will combine multiple measures of student academic growth and professional practice. Districts will have a chance to develop all or parts of their new evaluations or choose to use a new state default model. The new evaluations will be phased in between the 2012 and 2016 school years.
The state will host forums in different locations throughout Illinois to provide a chance for teachers and administrators to learn what PEAC educators and experts have recommended and an opportunity for them to weigh in on recommended changes. The sessions will be highly interactive, with brief presentations by key leaders of ISBE followed by live polling, discussion, and an open Q&A session. Please select your site below to RSVP.
These forums are open to the public; teachers and administrators are especially encouraged to attend.
