About the Achievement School District
The Achievement School District (ASD) was created as part of Tennessee’s response to the federal “Race to the Top” initiative. It is a project designed to flip the paradigm and ensure that the lowest performing 5% of schools in Tennessee will perform in the top 25% of schools across the state within 5 years. The ASD, working with Memphis City Schools and community partners, directly operates Corning Elementary, Frayser Elementary, and Westside Middle School, and will expand to three additional Memphis schools for the 2013-2014 school year.
