Are you an experienced, effective teacher that is looking for the next professional challenge? Are you looking for recognition as an excellent teacher? Are you looking to work with a collaborative team of like-minded peers? Are you ready to demonstrate the power of teaching to eliminate the achievement gap? If so, then applying to become a T3 teacher could be the next step in your career.

As a T3 teacher, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of effective teachers who are high performing and dedicated to working collaboratively. You will be trained as a cohort in turnaround strategies that have been used by other highly effective teacher teams. You’ll be part of a broader turnaround strategy that supports effective teaching. You’ll be able to take on leadership roles without leaving the classroom. The T3 Initiative offers a path toward mastery in urban teaching.

Criteria

Minimum qualifications include at least three years of teaching experience in a high poverty school and a track record of effectiveness with students. Selection criteria include evidence of prior effectiveness and the existence of those skills and competencies that are required for success in a turnaround environment.

Application Process

The T3 application process is designed to be a fair and comprehensive way of assessing a teacher’s readiness to be a turnaround leader.

Part 1 – Written application

Follow the link at the bottom of the page to start your application.

Part 2 – Interview Day

You will be notified if you have been invited to participate in the next phase of the application process, the interview day. The interview day includes individual interviews and participation in a team-based activity. On the application, you will be asked to indicate your availability for the scheduled interview days. You will be required to bring materials to the interview day that will enable you to discuss student growth over a period of time in your classroom. Staff from Teach Plus and other partners will be involved in evaluating candidates during the interview day activities, including the principals, who will share their vision for their schools and the leadership roles in which teachers will serve.

Part 3 – Teaching Demonstration and References

The third part of the application process includes a teaching demonstration. You will be given further instructions if you reach this stage of the application process. References will also be contacted during this phase.

Part 4 – Notification of Selection and Assignment

Teachers are notified whether they have been selected to become a T3 teacher. You must have been offered a teaching position at a T3 partner school (which can happen before or during the T3 selection process) to finalize your selection. The principals of the schools will make final hiring decisions.
